Day 27. Dec 1. Browns Bay to Auckland CBD. 20km.

After a big breakfast with the family, Nicole dropped me back at Browns Bay on a beautiful sunny morning. The trail weaved it’s way along beaches and beach front paths. It was actually really enjoyable. At Milford Beach, I bumped into day walker Keong and we walked together for a few hours. A meditation and yoga teacher as well as a background in IT. Awesome conversation on the meaning of being and true self. Inspired me with new possibilities. Trail magic. It’s as if Keong poped up just when I was most receptive to that type of conversation. We called in at his friends place on the beachfront to share some yarns. An old school bach nestling defiantly among $10m homes. I said farewell to Keong at Takapuna heads. It dawned on me that I had been there only two months ago with daughter Katie and partner Nick looking at a potential wedding venue. Then onto Devenport and over to Auckland CBD where I had a lovely evening with son Ben who has a city centre flat under the Sky Tower.
