Left my tent and gear at Huntly campsite and took an early morning bus with Jai, Stacey and Ren to Ngāruawāhia so I could walk back with only a day pack to Huntly. They did that yesterday and were going on further to Hamilton from Ngāruawāhia. Even though the maximum elevation along the Hakarimata track was only 400m, the total ascent/descent was nearly 1000m with the up and down. Pretty cool views over the Waikato and some nice old Kauri trees at the end of the Hakarimata track. Quite a few live permanently at the Huntly campsite. Was interesting to get a different perspective on living and life.
